Katie joined CARE as a senior policy advocate focusing on maternal health issues in February 2009. Prior to joining CARE, Katie was a senior legislative policy analyst at Population Action International, where she focused on the links between sexual and reproductive health and HIV prevention. She previously served as a health legislative assistant, working on domestic and international health care issues including legislation that created the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, for then-Rep. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), who is now a U.S. senator.
Katie received her B.A. in history from the University of New Hampshire, and has lived in Washington, D.C. for the past 10 years.
