Every girl has the power to change the world. To unlock her potential, she must have the opportunity to go to school and build the skills and confidence needed to meet life's challenges and achieve her dreams. By International Women's Day 2011, our goal is to have 50,000 girls pledge to learn about issues facing girls around the world, including the importance of girls' education, and to share what they learn with their friends.
The Power of Girls is about empowering girls to think globally, connect with other girls around the world and take action to make the world a better place for girls everywhere!
Start by learning more about the issues that girls face in poor countries around the world:
Did you know that of the millions of children around the world who never get an education, the majority are girls?
Did you know that most of the world's poorest people are women and girls?
Did you know that the more education a girl gets, the more likely she is to have a healthy family, a solid income to invest back into her community, and a vision for her future?
Girls just like you are the best advocates for girls' issues, because you're the experts. Get involved and help girls around the world lift themselves and their communities out of poverty.
