CARE has concluded with UNICEF a five(5 months) cooperative agreement to implement Commuity Based Nutrition project (PNAC) aiming to improve the nutitional status of the most vulnerable rural population in the Ten(10) collines the commune of Mutaho within the province of GITEGA. Project activities are divided into two main components: 1) Nutritional interventions targeting vulnerable childrens (<5 years) and pregnante & feeding women through Community based nutrition services providers with support from partners; 2) Micro-projects activities to support target communities self development initiatives.
Specific interventions consiste of: follow up of target children grow; organize nutritional demonstration activities; follow up of target children immunization coverage, and referal to health center; provision of vitamine A to children; organizing activities of education for health, nutrition and sanitation; promotion of good practices related to child illness.
Support to micro projects initiatives are focused on agro busines activities, small Livestock, etc. with direct impact on target groups nutritional status.
CARE intervention will be focused on vulnerable population of the Ten collines from the commune of Mutaho. CARE will support each target community to creating a "Comité Local de Nutrition (CLN)", selecting and training their community based nutrition service provider "Agent communautaire de Nutrition (ACN)" |
