Project Name:Logical and Mathematical Thought Development in Rural Indigenous Children in Guatemala
Project Description:
The goals of the Logical and Mathematical Thought Development in Rural Indigenous Children in Guatemala are: to develop skills and capacity in mathematics, science and technology (and in particular in logical-mathematical thinking, information management and the use of technology) among 6000 school-age children and 240 teachers in rural Mayan areas through the use of intercultural and bilingual education methods; to establish networks for social and cultural learning and exchange for working children from the region that focus on improving systemic thinking capacity so that the children can understand concepts such as their historic origins, the cultural legacy of their ancestors, local and global realities from the point of view of children, human rights and education; and to facilitate the formation of individual capacities that will allow children and youth to actively participate in economic and social development processes.
