Project Information

Project Name:Equal Access to Water and Sanitation for Guatemalan Families
Project Description:
Water for small rural and/or otherwise marginalized communities is a resource that must be managed in a participatory manner, considering the complexity of this natural resource and its links with environmental, agricultural, health, economic and other social issues. Therefore, CARE will work with local governments, institutions, civil society and communities to improve provision of and access to water and sanitation services and to improve management of water resources. In doing so, we expect the following outcomes: development of draft municipal policies and regulations for water management;
and municipal personnel trained in comprehensive water management
CARE proposes to raise awareness of the problems regarding access to water and sanitation in Guatemala at national local levels. CARE will support communities to engage in national and regional networks through which they can combine experiences to generate policy recommendations that ensure an equitable and sustainable management of water resources in an integrated manner.
