| Project Description: | |
| CARE is the prime contractor for this four-country (Mali, Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Cote d'Ivoire) project aimed at preventing HIV transmission among migrants and in the communities along West African railroads. This integrated approach is the first significant effort to combat HIV/AIDS along West Africa's railroads. Through activities including social marketing, clinical support, and ''local response'' community mobilization, CARE and its partners provide an integrated HIV/AIDS prevention program aimed at major transportation networks that had been neglected by other sub-regional programs. CARE's partners in this program are Family Health International (FHI), Population Services International (PSI), the railroad companies, and the national HIV/AIDS prevention coordinating committees (CNLS). | |
