This project aims to build the capacity of CBOs/FBOs to deliver sustainable, high-quality HIV/AIDS care services in Western Cote d'Ivoire rebel-occupied areas by strengthening the operational and technical capacities of several CBOs and FBOs operating within the rebel zone. The program will enable them to carry out key prevention and care activities to prevent transmission and mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS in both war and buffer zones. This project funded by PEPFAR will complete the existing Global fund Project gaps and will meet the needs of the population related to voluntary counseling and testing (VCT), preventing mother to child transmission (PMTCT), prophylactic treatment of opportunistic infections, follow-up and case management of PLWHA, home-based care, nutritional support, and psychosocial support.
This project is designed to build capacity of local CBOs/FBOs and work with partners to address these gaps. The project Objectives are a) To Strengthen the capacity of CBOs and FBOs to prevent and mitigate the effects of HIV/AIDS, and provide care and support for OVC b) Improve quality and increase utilization of HIV/AIDS services and structures c) Improve the capacity and competence of CBOs and FBOs to deliver home-based care services and psychosocial support, and develop advocacy campaigns and d) Mobilize communities and households to adopt safer behaviors and improve livelihood security. The project will work in the districts of Man, Danane, Bangolo, and Zouan Hounien. Direct beneficiaries include approximately 200,000 highly vulnerable individuals between the ages of 15-49, and 1000 orphans and vulnerable children. |
