Project Information

Project Name:Child Survival Project (CSXII)
Project Description:
Funded by USAID, the Child Survival project is located in northern Mozambique's Nampula Province. Its
goal is to empower families and health care providers to improve the health and nutritional status of children under
five and women of reproductive age by improving maternal and child nutrition and access to treatment and preventive
measures for malaria. CARE targets 50,898 children under five and 65,824 women of reproductive age with
interventions that address malaria, improve the nutritional status of women and young children and support other
MOH services. Project objectives include improving: (1) infant and young child nutritional status by better feeding
practices, including exclusive breastfeeding for at least six months; (2) maternal nutritional status through dietary
changes, iron supplementation (pregnant women), and vitamin A supplementation (post-partum women); (3) access
to malaria treatment for both women and children, including increased use of bed nets; and, (4) MOH capacity to
provide quality services.
