Canadian Coalition Youth and HIV/AIDS in Africa for Northern Inhambane Province (MOZO53) (2004-2007)
Funded by CIDA, the project goal is to contribute to enhanced development among African communities
severely affected by HIV/AIDS. Its objectives are to strengthen highly vulnerable communities, CBOs, NGOs, FBOs
and governments capacities to reduce the negative impacts of HIV/AIDS upon children and youths using continuum
of care and multi-sectoral approaches. CARE works in tandem with ongoing efforts of the HACI project to protect
the dignity and human security of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) by strengthening community-based and
community-led responses to OVC. Together the two projects will reach 44,427 children 10 to 14 years, 18,556
adolescents and 53,762 adults. FBO/CBOs/NGOs will be provided support to undertake the work and a well thought
out process used to build their capacity in the following areas: effectiveness, efficiency, and expansion. Other
activities include building the capacity of the local organizations to develop and implement their own plans with
CARE's support.
