Project Name:CDC Integrated Health Network
Project Description:
The goal of the Integrated Health Network project is to reduce Mother to Child Transmission of HIV and strengthen community-based structures for effective care and support programs. The term Integrated Health Network was adopted in Mozambique to describe a system of comprehensive health services that are linked to provide HIV prevention, treatment, care and support activities. This includes condom distribution, IEC activities, Sexually transmitted infections (STI) care, treatment of opportunistic infections (OIs), voluntary and confidential counselling and testing (VCT), prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) interventions, day clinic treatment services, laboratory and blood bank services, TB services and Community Home Based Care (CHBC). Vilankulos health services are currently lacking most components of the IHN. This project will strength VCT services and establish the infrastructure for day clinic services, it will build capacity of MOH to develop PMTCT services, mobilize communities to create demand for PMTCT services and strengthen community response to provide comprehensive care and support services for HIV positive mothers and their families.
