Project Information
| Project Name: | Enhancing Community Capacity and Response to HIV/AIDS |
| Project Description: | |
| CARE's fifteen years experience in HIV/AIDS programming has shown that effective responses can be mounted at the community, national and international levels. CARE's key assets for responding to the AIDS crisis include extensive geographical coverage, multi-sectoral expertise, and experience in strengthening the capacity of community-based organizations. CARE's approach to HIV/AIDS utilizes the livelihoods framework, which recognizes the rights and responsibilities individuals, households, and communities have towards preventing new infections and providing care and support to those currently affected. CARE also recognizes that people living in poverty are particularly vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. The disease and its consequences have a disproportionately harsh impact on those who are already poor. CARE is committed to working towards improving their livelihood security and ability to live life with dignity. Therefore, CARE will collaborate with partners in order to: Reduce the transmission of the disease. Reduce social and economic vulnerability of people with HIV and AIDS and their families. Promote access to care, and quality of care, for people with HIV and AIDS and their families. | |
