Project Information
| Project Name: | Models for Inclusive and Equitable Sexual and Reproductive Health |
| Project Description: | |
| Despite their best intentions, NGOs and other agencies consistently fail to reach the most marginalized groups with their interventions because of ineffective targeting criteria or the existence of community discrimination against marginalized groups, among other reasons. CARE's Model for Inclusive and Equitable Sexual and Reproductive Health project addresses such inequities in access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care among marginalized members of rural society and seeks to identify opportunities for promoting the SRH rights of marginalized groups through greater participation, voice, and accountability. The project is implemented in Lilongwe District, targeting poor rural communities with estimated 2,000 children under the age of five. In its first year, the project piloted its activities in one health catchment area where CARE's LIFH and HACI projects have been implementing activities for a number of years. Based on lessons learned during the pilot, CARE has scaled up project activities during years two and three to cover a number of health catchment areas across a single district and focused on documentation/dissemination of lessons learned and advocacy. | |
