This project is a component of the national program on rural financial services development that aims at
replicating the MMD methodology to other groups within the country. The project shares lessons learned with local
government services to facilitate the replication. CARE works with graduated MMD groups and establishes links
between them to form the base for a formal savings and loan network in Konni district. The project has established a
credit line with local lending institutions, and uses the savings of the MMD groups to leverage larger and longer-term
loans. This allows women to invest in a variety of income-generating activities that the smaller MMD group's loans
cannot underwrite. |
