| Project Name: | Strengthening Risk Management in Esteli |

| The areas of intervention of this project are the municipalities of the Esteli department. The Esteli department is located 154 km from Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. The altitude averages between 600 to 1550 meters above sea level. The population benefiting from the project are located in the 30 communities where the project will be implemented. It will benefit at least 750 families including heads of family, children and adolescents who will participate directly in the local Committees of Prevention of Disasters (COLOPRED). Likewise, the technicians of the municipalities and AMUDES who will be trained, coached and strengthened in risk management approaches and consequently six local governments also will be direct beneficiaries of the project. On the other hand 70 professional representatives of the member institutions' departmental and municipal development committees, will benefit from the trainings and from the consultancies inserting in their plans and projects the risk management approach as well as enriching their own knowledge and taking them to their respective institutions for use in action planning. The members of six town councils will be benefited in the same way by having been provided with knowledge adapted from the Risk Management to strengthen their decisions in the practice of good management of municipal government. The members of the Red Cross and the Fire departments will also take part in this process so they will be a part of the project. |
