| This project will be carried out in five municipalities of the Matagalpa department and four municipalities of the Nueva Segovia department. The objective of this project is to strengthen civic participation by improving the local public administration in the department of Matagalpa to make it participative and effective (Democratic Governance for Development), and in the department of Nueva Segovia, by establishing a model replicable for the development of public municipal and departmental plans based on the population's rights and on the Millennium Development Goals. Through these interventions, CARE would be strengthening its programming in the civic development area, facilitating spaces of organizational learning by piloting of some initiatives including strengthening the local decision making structures, creating capacities in local partners, the Organization for the Municipal Development (ODESAR) and the Association of Municipalities of Nueva Segovia (AMUNSE), and increasing the quality and the quantity of citizen participation in local development. |
