Project Name:Strategic Alliances between Private Enterprise and Impoverished Artichoke Producers (Ancash region)
Project Description:
This project aims to make available valid methodologies to business sectors, the NGO community and civil society in order to facilitate the relationships and the market linkages of the poor producers. CARE Peru will use validated methodologies to link poor producers to markets, such as productive chains and product development, in order to contribute to poverty reduction through the use of new sustainable practices between the private enterprise and poor producers. The project will generate learning on the linkages between private enterprise and poor producers of artichokes. To achieve this, the project will be developed in three scenarios: one will involve a new small-scale private agro-exporting company at the current site (where artichokes are already being produced for export); the second will involve a larger agro-exporter in a new site for artichoke production; and the third will involve a new small agro-exporter in a new site. The project's objective will be measured by two indicators: identify, validate, systematize and disseminate methodologies of multi-sector alliances with the private sector in order to facilitate the relationships and the market linkages of poorer artichoke producers; and, at least 60 families will benefit from a 30% increase in sales at the end of the project. This project will be carried out with 60 artichoke producers from the Ancash region in partnership with three private Peruvian companies.
