The Influencing the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) on Intercultural Bilingual Education (IBE) project aims to improve equity and quality of education in Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru, by ensuring that IFI policies, strategies and resources accelerate the process of integrating IBE in the education systems of the three countries. The main results of the project include systematizing models from CARE and its partners that have shown impact in the quality of bilingual intercultural education, generating new knowledge about the policies and key actors involved in the IFIs (the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, and the main barriers within governments and IFIs with respect to IBE. At least 4 regional and national advocacy initiatives will be developed to enable CARE and its partners to learn about the process of influencing the IFIs.
CARE in Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru will work with key actors such as Ministry of Education, Bilingual Cultural Education Offices, local governments or municipalities, Indigenous and Social Organizations, as well as national organizations such as the Social Contract for Education in Ecuador, National Education Council in Peru and Ethnic Groups Educational Councils in Bolivia. The main strategy is to develop local capacities for influencing IFI policies, strategies and resources in order to improve access and qualtiy of Bilingual Intercultural Education for poor people from urban and rural areas. |
