Project Information

Project Name:Community Learning and Action for Savings Stimulation and Enhancement Project
Project Description:
Currently all USAID Rwanda FSI implementing partners are concerned by issues of sustainability meaning that stimulated increase in individual group revenue gained from product (fish, livestock, potato, maize, charcoal) sales would effectively translate into household recapitalization and livelihood diversity. Furthermore, economic security and stability of FSI assisted micro-enterprises and micro-business owners (associations, groups) heavily depend on continued access to working capital, so as to further capitalize on their business revenue, and to do so permanently. However, household needs and social obligations still absorb a high proportion of participants' income (40-60%). These expenses create a big burden on revenue generated by economic activities. This threat is particularly high in the context of quasi-absence of flexible and easily accessible saving systems in most FSI supported project areas.
