| Project Name: | Market Access for Sustainable Milk Production in El Salvador |
| Project Description: |
| CARE El Salvador's sustainable milk production through market access project aims to benefit at least 500 small and micro milk producers and their families in the departments of Sonsonate, La Libertad, Usulutan and San Vicente by March 2008. CARE will be able to do this by working together with a diverse range of partners from a corporate social responsibility perspective, including the national association of milk producers and industrial milk pocessors (PROLECHE and ASILECHE), the Inter American Development Bank, and two succesful milk processing companies. Through the project, small-scale producers will receive training and technical assistance in order to increase their productivity, as well as to organize themselves into producer associations in order to benefit from investments in milk processing technology. The project will also serve as a showcase for the impact and importance of forging public-private sector alliances in order to address development problems and contribute to the erradication of poverty. |
