| In the region of the Rio Grande and specifically south of the Department of Usulutan, an Early Alert System does not exist for flooding problems that includes all needed support elements, some of these are: community training and sstrengthening of key themes that will allow them to react in an adequate way during an emergency situation. This project will install 5 Municipal Emergency Operation Centers (COEs) and 1 departmental Operation Center and the municipal and departmental civil protection committee members will be trained in the use of the equipment. The project includes establishment of community-based committees, training them in emergency preparedness and response, creation of emergency plans and evacuation routes defined. installation of Basic Early Warning Systems and a basic community flood early alert system will be in place and functioning in 27 communities south of the Usulutan department. |
