CARE will coordinate the implementation of the project 'Stage II: Follow Up Strategy of Civil Society on the Quebec and Mar de Plata Action Plan' in El Salvador. The project aims to raise awareness among citizens and CSOs about what are the Summit of the Americas processes, the commitments assumed by governments in such summits, and how they relate to the countries' development and the lives of their citizens. It also aims to impact the Government's commitments and their level of implementation.
The project titled 'Participation of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the Summit of the Americas processes' was a process that started in 1997. It was coordinated by Corporacion PARTICIPA, in alliance with FOCAL of Canada and IVESP of Venezuela. The project was implemented in 24 countries in North, Central and South America and the Greater Caribbean. It was aimed at generating a Government Compliance Index, which would become the basis for hemispheric reports of the project. It also aimed to establish national alliances with CSOs and governments to make progress in the implementation of mandates of the Summits on topics related to the strengthening of Democracy. |
