Project Name:INTEGRATED EDUCATION, HEALTH, & INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITIES THROUGH FLECS TO RETURNEES
Project Description:
The sub-project consists of three components of great importance to returnees and hosting communities in targeted areas in Awdal and Galbeed regions and focuses on:

a) Support to Primary education
b) Support sustainable targeted Family Life Centres (FLECs) through establishing income generation activities and providing training
c) Support to MCHs

In the education sector the project aims to support in the improvement of the learning environment through l rehabilitation and reconstruction of schools in areas where the returnees are resettling. The project will also build the capacity of the MoE, CECs, teachers and School administrators to improve the quality of education. The project will also provide furniture and school teaching and learning kits.

CARE has in the past been working with the out-of-school girls to build their capacity and provide them with an alternative education through Family life Education Centers. To ensure these facilities/establishments continue to serve the communtiy and girls, the project aims to support the FLECs to establish viable Income generating activities that will help them raise funds to sustain their activities.

The health component of this project aims to improve access to reproductive health services and the quality of of service delivery. This would be achieved through upgraging the facilities in Adwal region and providing drugs and medical supplies, equipment and furniture. The health component also seeks to address the issue of creating awareness on the harming effects of FGM and the training counselors to provide services and sensitze the community on HIV/AIDS.
