The sepcific objective of the Integrated Community Disaster Reduction (ICDR) Project in Tajikistan is: Community-based organisations (CBOs) and schools located in the most vulnerable communities in the vicinity of two protected areas and in four districts better protect themselves from disasters with appropriate and sustained disaster preparedness activities and sustainable natural resource management (NRM) that effectively reduce disaster risks.
A total of 64,318 persons will directly benefit from the project. The direct beneficiaries consist of 45,658 community members, 2,200 CBO members, 16,145 school children, 165 teachers, and 150 local and state authorities. These direct beneficiaries are from 55 villages, 55 schools within or in the vicinity of the villages, local authorities in the villages and in jamoats and districts exercising administrative control of the villages, and officers and staff of target Ministries and state agencies. The project will be implemented in the protected areas Romit Zapovednik and Almosi Zakaznik, and in the districts of Faizabad, Vahdat, Varzob and Yovon, in Tajikistan. |
