Project Name:Empowerment of Ethnic Minority Groups around Queen Elizabeth Protected Area (QEPA) Project
Project Description:
The empowerment of ethnic minority groups around Queen Elizabeth Protected Area is part of a broad Rights, Equity & Protected Areas programme implemented by CARE Uganda and 2 local civil society partner organisations. The project seeks is to secure economic and political rights of Basongora, Banyabindi & Banyabutumbi women and men throgh effective representation, and increased economic choices. The project contributes to a broader REPA goal of "Poor natural resources-dependant households achieve sustainable livelihoods through equitable sharing of costs and benefits, and fulfilment of rights and responsibilities from the use and management of forest and wildlife protected areas"

The project that primarily targets 1200 women, men and children of the 3 ethnic minority groups is funded by DANIDA, and will run January 2006-December 2008.
