Project Name:Queen Elizabeth Protected Area Benefit Sharing Project
Project Description:
Queen Elizabeth Protected Area Benefit Sharing Project is part of the Rights Equity and Protected Area Programme implemented by CARE Uganda, funded by DANIDA through CARE Denmark. By December 2008, the project will have reached 3000 poor and marginalised rural households living near Queen Elizabeth Protected Area in Kasese and Bushenyi districts in south west Uganda. The project aims at imcreasing and improving tangible benefits from park reseource access and revenue sharing schemes for communities and households living near Queen Elizabeth Protected Area (QEPA). The project is implemented through local civil society organisations and operates in 24 parishes in Kasese and one in Bushenyi district. The project facilitates collaborative resource access and management, capacity building for communities and CSOs to negotiate equitable resource access agreements and participation in the revenue sharing scheme.
