Project Name:Copperbelt Urban Livelhood (CULP)
Project Description:
The strategic aim of CULPs activities is to promote the empowerment of individuals and organisations/partners by assisting them in enhancing their capacity to secure their livelihood and to improve their environments. CULP started operating in 1997 as a 5 year programme with the asssistance from the Royal Netherlands Embassy.The project since inception was operating in the 7 settlements in Ndola and Kalulushi Districts. To achive its objectives CULP had 4 Lines of Action and has continued to work in the old settlement and has also expanded into new Distict( Kitwe) and 3 new settlements (2- Kitwe and 1- Kalualushi). To achieve its objective CULP II is working around 5 interventions namely: (1) Personal Empowerment (2) Financial services (3) Business Development Services (4) Advocacy Linkages and Capacity Building and cross cutting themes (HIV/AIDS Gender Monitoring and Evaluation). With the expansion into 3 new settlements the target population is now 216,928.
