Project Information
| Project Name: | Infant & Child Mortality Reduction |
| Project Description: | |
| Established in 1999, Moyo Wa Bana reduces mortality and morbidity attributable to malaria, diarrhea and acute lower respiratory infections among children under five in Lusaka, Ndola and Kasama districts. The project collaborates with Central Board of Health and other national committees in child health. Among the project services, Moyo Wa Bana provides grants in the form of treated bed nets and chlorine to organized Neighborhood Health Committees (NHC), which sell the commodities to households and manage the proceeds as community revolving funds. The sale of treated bed nets and chlorine becomes an income generating activity for the NHC to sustain future child health programming. Moyo Wa Bana provides technical assistance to the NHCs to strengthen financial management of the revolving fund, links NHCs to Society of Family Health and other commercial outlets for the purchase of bed nets and chlorine, and improves NHCs' skills in inventory management, marketing and record keeping. | |
