CARE's response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza began within hours of the first Israeli bombings on Dec. 27, 2008. We are providing emergency humanitarian aid, including lifesaving medical supplies, food, blankets, heaters and shelter materials to hospitals, families and feeding centers.

Food shortages are affecting millions of people in 25 countries on the Africa continent. According to UNICEF, an estimated 1 million children and pregnant women in the southern African nation of Malawi are undernourished.

By helping restore access to clean water and working with communities, CARE is ensuring that disaster-stricken community can look forward to a healthier future.

In the emergency relief phase of CARE's response, we helped meet the basic survival needs of more than 50,000 people in India by delivering items like water purification materials, clothing, plastic sheeting for temporary shelter, sleeping mats, sheets, soap, cooking utensils and medicine
