The mission of the Basic Education Coalition is to raise the priority among governments, donor organizations, and the private sector, for support of quality basic education for all.
The members of the Coalition believe that basic education is a key investment in reducing poverty and improving social well-being. The objectives of the Coalition are to enhance awareness and knowledge of the fundamental importance of basic education and to increase resources and commitment to quality education. The intended audiences of this effort are governments, donor organizations, and the private sector, including corporations, foundations, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs).
The members of the Coalition have decades of experience working at all levels with communities and governments around the world to improve access to quality primary and secondary education, adult literacy programs, and other forms of basic education. They have joined together to maximize resources brought to this endeavor, broaden the reach of their efforts, and share experiences toward the common goal of enhancing investment in and understanding of the fundamental role of basic education.
