Situation: After a long, hard winter, massive amounts of melting snow have caused a large dam in Ghazni province to rupture. The resulting floods have ripped through some of the area's most productive farmland, destroying fruit trees and other crops. More than 900 families have been affected, their homes and
livelihoods severely damaged by the floodwaters.
Our Response: CARE is planning a multi-pronged response, including:
Providing emergency food kits for families.
Helping rebuild homes and irrigation systems.
Rebuilding destroyed bridges, so communities aren't cut off from one another.
Rebuilding a school that was washed away, and replacing ruined schoolbooks.
Take a stand in the fight against poverty.
