CARE Helps Tsunami Orphans Stay Strong
Last December's tsunami disaster turned their world upside down. Their mother and father were both swept away. Their house, clothes and much-loved bicycle — all gone. Left on their own, Karthika and her brothers and sister might not have survived the nightmare that followed.

But CARE was on the scene almost immediately, providing relief, restoring order — helping save lives.

Now, we're helping children like Karthika work through their immense grief. We're also clearing away debris so better shelters can be built while new permanent homes are under construction.

Ask Karthika and her siblings what they still need, and their requests are modest. New clothes. Pens and notebooks for school. And, little Sajeerthan shyly admits, a new bicycle for the family to share.

With the help of team members like you, we can be there for these youngsters as long as they need us. And help them build the bright future they deserve!

Take a stand in the fight against poverty.
When disaster strikes, when poverty threatens lives, CARE is there. With staff on the ground in 66 countries, we can respond quickly — with the right kind of help. And we stay after the crisis has passed, to resume and expand our poverty-fighting work. Want to be a part of the solution? Just click here to give a gift. Your generosity will go straight to work — and have a lasting, lifesaving impact in poor communities around the world!
