Corporate Champions/CARE Corporate Council - CARE has multiple ways to reaching out to corporate donors, most of which depend on having a "champion" within the corporation working on our behalf. Champion initiatives have included getting CARE chosen as a charity of choice at the corporation; organizing e-mail or letter campaigns during an emergency; and hosting CARE events. Champions at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse First Boston have enabled us to raise funds and broaden CARE's outreach to the New York financial community.
The New England Women's Initiative (NEWI) This initiative was founded in January 2002. Its mission is to raise awareness and funds for support of CARE projects that focus on education and income-creation opportunities for girls and women. Through decades of work, CARE has found that investing in education for girls and providing women with help in finding ways to earn an income are among the most effective investments in breaking the cycle of poverty. Please contact Jamie Olsen at jolsen@care.org for more information.
New York Trustees Comprised of twenty-two long time CARE supporters, the New York Trustees are committed to providing leadership for outreach activities, assistance with spearheading major fundraising events and also contribute a certain level of financial support.
The Women's Initiative Group of New York With a steering committee of eighteen professional women based in New York and a membership of over 500 people, the New York Women's Initiative works to provide a bridge between women here and women in the developing world. They focus their efforts on girls' education and have supported CARE's work in Guatemala, India, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Bolivia. Members have visited CARE projects and follow these experiences with outreach and fundraising events in private homes, corporate spaces and clubs. Please contact Jamie Olsen at jolsen@care.org for more information.
