Young Professionals for CARE is hosting MOVE, a benefit for CARE, at the trendy night club, Pink Elephant in New York. The event will feature a well-known DJ, dancing, raffle prizes, and over 400 young professionals in New York!

In celebration of International Women’s Day, CARE and NCM Fathom – in partnership with ONE and the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women – presented A POWERFUL NOISE Live in more than 450 theatres nationwide. The evening began with a screening of the acclaimed documentary "A Powerful Noise." This remarkable film features three inspiring women, who overcome daily challenges to achieve significant victories over poverty and oppression. Immediately following the film, former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright, CARE Advocate Christy Turlington Burns, Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Nicholas D. Kristof, actress and activist Natalie Portman and CARE President and CEO held a town hall discussion that was broadcast live into each theatre. The film’s executive producer Sheila C. Johnson was on hand to make a special announcement!

The evening featured the talents Broadway leading ladies Becca Ayers, Heather Ayers, Kerry Butler, Kristy Cates, Erin Davie, Lori Eure, Lindsay Mendez, Cary Michele Miller, Keira Naughton, Julie Reiber, Jenny Powers and Megan Sikora, who sang some of their favorite songs for an eclectic evening of music to raise money and awareness for CARE.

The festive evening featured a new collection of beautiful
handcrafted jewelry, wearable accessories, and decorative items
from more than 40 women artisans from 25 countries including
Tibet, Laos, Turkmenistan, Colombia, Peru, and South Africa. There
also was a collector's gallery with one of a kind and
heritage pieces available only at the event. Ten percent of sales that day were donated to CARE.

"A Powerful Noise" World Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival

CARE supporters gathered for a night at the Tribeca Film Festival supporting CARE. The occasion for this special event was a Tribeca Film Festival screening of "A Powerful Noise," an inspiring new documentary that showcases three remarkable women and their victories over poverty and oppression.
The night began with a party, where CARE supporters met Jacqueline Dembele, who is featured in the film. Known as "Madame Urbain" to locals, Jacqueline fights forced labor practices and illiteracy in the slums of Bamako, Mali. Following the party, guests attended the screening of "A Powerful Noise." The night concluded with a panel discussion at the theater with Jacqueline, the film’s director Tom Capello and producer Scott Thigpen.
The evening was presented in partnership with Ethos Water, Lois Hill and Warburg Pincus.

The Walk for Water is inspired by the long journey many women and children must make every day in water-stressed countries. The time spent fetching water for their families prevents them from pursuing an education, maintaining their households or earning additional income.
