We’re beginning to get a better grasp of the results of the Saturday’s devastating 7.6-magnitude earthquake that struck Pakistan and northern India Saturday morning. More than 30,000 lives lost and nearly 5 million have been affected by the quake and the aftershocks that followed.

CARE representatives are on the ground with partner organizations to determine the scope of the disaster and the best and fastest way to respond. The greatest needs are food, water, health supplies, temporary shelter, blankets and warm clothing.
And there are areas that are still inaccessible due to damaged roads and rough terrain. There are parts of the area where we don’t know the extent of the damage yet. We do know that homes, schools, hospitals and entire villages have been destroyed. No one will be able to get into these areas until helicopters are available to assess the situation.
We are continuing to gather information from our resources and will update you when more news is available.
Your donation to fund the earthquake relief effort is greatly appreciated.
