Connecticut high school seniors Margaret Dunlop and Eric Turner have created a 70-page cookbook to raise funds for CARE’s poverty-fighting efforts. Starting with an independent study project
in culinary arts, they collected recipes from 60 teachers by organizing a contest throughout their district, in Burlington and Harwinton, Conn. Using materials donated by local businesses, they have printed and compiled the books themselves, raising over $1,400 for CARE’s work.

The students have sold the $10 books at the Lewis S. Mills High School, the local town hall, public library, basketball games and other events – even preparing samples to promote the recipes, which include items such as venison stew, authentic Italian pasta sauce and almond pork chops. Yum!
