CARE was shocked and deeply saddened by the enormous tragedy of the recent earthquake in China. The loss of life and intense emotional trauma suffered by those who survived the quake has aroused sympathy around the world.
CARE is not directly engaging in relief efforts in China and encourages those that would like to assist to contact agencies which are providing relief to those affected by this disaster. CARE has no presence in China at the moment and we believe that the most effective assistance can be provided by the Chinese authorities and those agencies who are already in-place in the country.
We wish the people affected by this earthquake a speedy recovery, and our hearts are with China as it comes to grips with this terrible tragedy.
