After Typhoon Haiyan killed 6,300 people and left 4 million homeless in the Philippines four years ago, communities have banded together to improve their lives. Dennis Amata with CARE Philippines said CARE focused on helping farmers organize and learn how to run a more sustainable business.  “Before Haiyan, most of them didn’t know they needed to form an organization to access these government benefits. Now they create proposals on their own and approach the government themselves. They’re also drawing up their own business plans," Amata said.
