Emergency Crisis in Sudan

The confict in Darfur, Sudan, has created the world's most serious humanitarian crisis to date.
More than 1 million people have been displaced from their homes, seeking shelter in camps with nothing more than the clothes on their back.
Thousands have been killed by violence. Those who have fled violent attacks — mostly women and young children — are dying from starvation and disease.
In Sudan and neighboring Chad, CARE staff is:
- Providing food, blankets, cooking pots and soap that will help people survive life the harsh terrain of the camps.
- Digging wells and hauling water to provide clean water in Darfur
- Operating a therapeutic feeding hospital for severely malnourished children and trauma recovery support to victims of violence.
- Managing four refugee camps in Chad to supply new refugees with food, water, medical attention and shelter.
The need is great. Won't you please give a donation now? And stay informed about the Sudan crisis by signing up for CARE email updates.
With your support, CARE can do much more to help these victims of war — provide nutritional support to young children and pregnant women, offer preventive health services to guard against malaria and reproductive health problems, and help ensure basic education for children.
