as individual as their country. They speak their own language

in the world.

The
Rainforest Home of the Lemurs
At night, the sounds of the lemurs' voices and movements fill
the air. With a flashlight and the trained eyes of our expert
guide, we were able to see a rare dwarf grey mouse lemur from
just feet away.

The
Wild Call of the Indri
Trekking through the rainforest reserve, we were able to see
some of the area's lush vegetation, rare orchids and of course
the black and white indri, whose loud cry was unforgettable.
A
Look at "Tana"
The streets were crowded with cars making it difficult to get
around at times. There was a plethora of street vendors selling
everything from fruits and vegetables to hand-carved toys and
embroidered linens.
A
Day with Vololona
We visited schools throughout the city, meeting with several headmasters
to gain support for CARE training activities that reduce rates
of infant and child disease and malnutrition in urban areas.
Moving East in Tropical Paradise
The sun is bright, the humidity is low and coconuts and palm trees
are everywhere. White sand and white picket fences surround restaurants,
attracting tourists and the businesses that cater to them.
Crossing the River by Degal
We traveled by degal, a hallowed-out palm tree carved into
a canoe, for the last leg of the trip, crossing a glass-like river
with the orange glow of the sunset in the distance. |
