Over the past five years, Delta has generously given more than 1 million dollars of in-kind and cash support to CARE, with an additional $670,000 pledged over the next two years (2001-2002). CARE has been a signature partner of Delta's since 1998, with the airline supporting CARE's work through an invaluable travel fund, the Delta SkyWish program, cash contributions for CARE program work and other in-kind donations. Delta is a sponsor of CARE's new Youth Initiative for 2001-2002 and is sending high school students from Atlanta and Chicago to visit CARE programs in Guatemala and Peru during the summer of 2001.
This year, Delta supported the CARE Youth Corps 2001 training program, which enabled the student participants to learn more about the culture of Peru, as well as the work of CARE and the challenges that communities face in the developing world. Delta also is providing air travel for the CARE Youth Corps 2001 program participants.
In addition to the CARE Youth Corps, Delta sponsored the Atlanta Youth Committee for CARE (AYCC), which offered 10 high school students the opportunity to learn more about CARE and international development work in Guatemala.
For more than 80 years, Heller Financial, a Chicago based company, has been a leading provider of financial products and services to mid-sized and small businesses in the United States and abroad. This year, Heller Financial supported the CARE Youth Corps 2001 program with a corporate leadership gift that encouraged other corporate and community leaders to be part of this important youth development initiative. This is the second year that Heller Financial has supported CARE and its efforts to offer a memorable experience to Chicago youth.
