Our Community

Our network of more than 27,000 CARE Action advocates are dedicated to change – changing U.S. foreign policy and changing lives for the better around the globe. Our advocates represent a diverse range of backgrounds, experience levels, and perspectives, but we all share a common passion – to eradicate poverty and empower women and girls worldwide.

Meet The Team

CARE Action’s team of Regional Advocacy Managers (RAM) are spread across the U.S. to be your connection to CARE’s legislative agenda and global work on-the-ground. One of our four coordinators are available to work directly with you on influencing your Members of Congress, organizing local events, conducting in-district meetings, submitting pieces to your local media, and participating in national CARE events.

Harley Dority

Regional Advocacy Manager for the Northeast

Harley, based in Washington, DC, joined CARE after 4.5 years at UNRWA USA, working to build community and awareness around the plight of Palestine refugees and the work the UN Agency does across the Middle East. Prior to that, she worked with the Government Relations team at Amnesty International, assisting the Refugee Specialist on policy and grassroots initiatives related to migration in the US. In her spare time, she likes to bake, go to yoga classes, and explore the city for new restaurants!

Josh Brown

Regional Advocacy Manager for the West & Midwest

Josh, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, has recently joined CARE after over a decade working for the American Heart Association. As a member of the American Heart Association’s Grassroots team, he mobilized and engaged advocates in multiple states to strategically support campaigns at the federal, state, and local levels. He has a passion for working with and empowering advocates to find their own voice while participating in the legislative process. In his spare time, Josh likes to be active, playing soccer and going on walks, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.

Patlyn Charles

Regional Advocacy Manager for the Southeast

Patlyn, based in Atlanta, GA, has worked at CARE for 16 years where she has worked in several roles. Prior to joining CARE, she worked with the GA Secretary of State’s Office to educate GA constituents, specifically middle and high school students, on the legislative process and how they could become engaged. In her current role, she supports the launch of strategic initiatives to increase youth engagement, while building a more diverse and inclusive environment within our volunteer advocate network.
