CARE’s Early Childhood Development for Rwanda’s Most Vulnerable Children

The United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child advocates for programs and services that promote early health, development and well-being of children and their caregivers. This is particularly important given that “a quarter of the world’s youngest children suffer one or more forms of severe deprivation and risk, such as poverty, disease, disability and exposure to violence.” Strong evidence points to the importance of integrated early childhood programs that address both the biological and psychosocial risk factors that keep children from developing to their full potential.
