The Associated Press: Foreign aid begins flowing to cyclone-hit southern Africa

The Associated Press quoted Matthew Pickard, CARE’s country director in Malawi, on the progress of foreign aid efforts after Cyclone Idai hit southern Africa. Pickard said the response is similar to prior natural disasters and noted we’ll likely see additional funding. “These are countries that are not usually making headlines and they’re making headlines. With the story comes people’s intent to respond empathetically.” Read the story here.
