ForeignPolicy referenced CARE on the conditions of the South Sudanese people. The South Sudanese government is trying to undermine the peace deal it has committed to through a contract, which the U.S. accepted millions of dollars from its government that has been accused of a multitude of human rights violations during South Sudan’s civil war. The Trump administration’s relations with Kiir’s office is focusing on enhancing U.S. economics instead the immediate humanitarian crisis. “Up to 6.8 million people—60 percent of the country—could be at risk of food crisis or nearing famine-like conditions this year.” Read the story here.
