Relief Efforts in Palestine (West Bank/Gaza)
Over the years, CARE has worked closely with local government and community-based organizations to strengthen democracy and civil society, with a particular focus on meeting the needs of poor, vulnerable, marginalized, and isolated people in Gaza. We’ve worked with local organizations to increase the participation of women and marginalized groups in decision-making at all levels throughout the region.
CARE was one of the first international organizations to respond to the recent crisis, distributing pre-positioned water and medical supplies, and sourcing additional relief items from trusted vendors with whom we already had working relationships. Together with our local partners, CARE has launched a comprehensive emergency response to address the extreme levels of humanitarian need now and support the long-term recovery of affected communities.
We have rigorous practices to ensure that dollars and supplies reach the intended beneficiaries, and to date, we have never had an instance of aid diversion.
CARE is one of the world’s most effective and respected humanitarian response organizations, with decades of experience serving people in times of conflict and disaster across political lines. We have a proven track record of impact, working in highly complex environments such as Gaza, Afghanistan, Northwest Syria, and Yemen. CARE is also a trusted member of several coordinating platforms and bodies in the region, participating in the Shelter, WASH, Health, Food Security and Livelihoods, and Logistics clusters as well as the GBV sub-cluster and the cash working group.
