More about this report

Increases in global conflict, economic challenges, market inflation, and the growing effects of climate change are compounding global crises. Those crises disproportionately affect the most vulnerable communities. Addressing the unprecedented and overwhelming humanitarian crisis requires response and recovery efforts to listen to and address the needs of those affected the most, especially women and girls.

Methodology

From 2023-2024, CARE listened to 3,822 (85% women) VSLA members from seven countries, targeting VSLA groups in Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Colombia, Ethiopia, Mali, Niger, and Vietnam. A further 3,535 VSLA members were surveyed only as part of a quantitative study in Nigeria and Uganda. This report represents findings from quantitative and qualitative data from Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Colombia, Ethiopia, Mali, Niger, and Vietnam, and quantitative data from Nigeria and Uganda.
