Country Description:

CARE has been an active participant in relief and development in the West Bank and Gaza since 1948. During this period, CARE's programs have evolved from the direct provision of services, such as the donation of "CARE Packages," to a capacity-building organization that supports Palestinian organizations, including the Palestinian National Authority and local non-governmental organizations. Since 1994, CARE’s program has included interventions in reproductive and public health, women’s empowerment, democratic development, leadership training, community development, fisheries conservation and development, civil society and capacity building.
