CARE USA receives funding through many multilateral and governmental entities. These donors award essential funding to CARE worldwide to support programs in conjunction with our country offices.

Institutional Funders

USAID

Established by the Foreign Affairs Act of 1961, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is the primary USG agency responsible for economic development and humanitarian programs throughout the world.  USAID works to: promote broadly shared economic prosperity, strengthen democracy and good governance, protect human rights, improve global health, advance food security and agriculture, improve environmental sustainability, further education, help societies prevent and recover from conflicts, and provide humanitarian assistance in the wake of natural man-made disasters.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The Department of Health and Human Services Center for Disease Control is dedicated to protecting health and promoting quality of life through prevention and control of infections disease, injury, and disability. CDC places humanity at the forefront of its mission to ensure health protection through promotion, prevention, and preparedness.

United States of America State Department

CARE works with multiple bureaus within the State Department, including the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM), the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL),  and the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA): Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

The Global Fund is a unique global public-private partnership dedicated to attracting and disbursing resources to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. The Global Fund works in close collaboration with other bilateral and multilateral organizations to supplement existing development efforts.

The World Bank

The World Bank is a multilateral development institution that provides financial and technical assistance to developing countries with the aim of reducing global poverty and improving living standards throughout the world. The World Bank consists of two development institutions – the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the International Development Association.

Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)

The MCC administers the Millennium Challenge Account in which development assistance is provided to those countries that rule justly, encourage economic freedom and invest in their people.   

USDA

The Department of Agriculture (USDA) is a federal department working to improve agriculture production and economic opportunity, and to preserve the Nation’s resources. While a lot of its work focuses on the United States, USDA does fund research and activities related to international food issues. USDA’s McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program through the Foreign Agricultural Service Agency are the primary programs within USDA for funding CARE.

United States Department of Labor

Department of Labor (DoL) is a federal department working to improve working conditions, labor rights and benefits, and employment opportunities for American workers. While most of its work focuses on the United States,  DoL does fund and conduct research and activities related to international labor issues. DoL is the leading donor to the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) International Program on the Elimination of Child Labor.
