Helene D. Gayle MD, MPH - Click for Bio
President and Chief Executive Officer

Helene D. Gayle is president and CEO of CARE USA. An expert on health, global development and humanitarian issues, she spent 20 years with the Centers for Disease Control, working primarily on HIV/AIDS. Dr. Gayle then directed the HIV, TB and Reproductive Health Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. At CARE, she heads one of the world's premier humanitarian organizations, with programs in nearly 70 countries to end poverty.

Dr. Gayle has been appointed by the Obama Administration to serve as chair of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, and on the President's Commission on White House Fellowships. Named one of Foreign Policy magazine's "Top 100 Global Thinkers," Newsweek's top 10 "Women in Leadership" and the Wall Street Journal's "50 Women to Watch," as well as one of the "100 Most Influential Atlantans" and the "100 Most Influential Georgians," Dr. Gayle has published numerous scientific articles and been featured by media outlets like the New York Times, Washington Post, ForbesWoman, Glamour, O magazine, National Public Radio and CNN.

Dr. Gayle was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. She earned a B.A. in psychology at Barnard College, an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Gayle serves on several boards, including the Center for Strategic and International Studies, ONE, the Rockefeller Foundation, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Institute of Medicine. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Bretton Woods Committee and the American Public Health Association.

Steve Hollingworth - Click for Bio
Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, Global Operations
Steve became COO of CARE in January 2007. He is a native of Elgin, Illinois, and for the four years prior to his arrival at headquarters was Country Director for CARE India, one of the largest CARE country offices. Previously he was the Country Director in Sri Lanka and acting Country Director in Bangladesh. He served as Assistant Country Director in Bolivia and Lesotho. In addition, he worked at CARE UK in London as the Asia and Latin America desk officer. Steve holds a B.A. in Economics from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, and an M.A. in Economics from the Victoria University of Manchester in Manchester, England.
Joe Iarocci - Click for Bio
Chief of Staff
Joe joined CARE in 1998 as General Counsel, serving as CARE's chief legal officer until 2004, when he was appointed Chief Financial Officer. In 2008, Joe became CARE's Chief of Staff, managing CARE's strategy and executive functions. Before joining CARE, Joe practiced business law in Atlanta and New York City. Joe received his A.B. magna cum laude from Brown University, his J.D. from the Cornell Law School and a Masters in Theological Studies from the Candler School of Theology, Emory University. Joe is a director and member of the executive committee of MicroVest, a leading private sector microfinance investment fund. He serves as a member of the Social Accountability International Advisory Board and is on the Vestry of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip. Joe speaks and teaches regularly on ethics, leadership and the problem of global poverty. Joe and his wife, Laura, have three daughters and live in Atlanta.


Patrick Solomon - Click for Bio
Senior Vice President, Global Support Services
Patrick is Senior Vice President, Global Support Services and oversees Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Services and Gender Equity and Diversity at CARE USA. Patrick came to CARE in 2003 as the Director, Internal Audit and in April 2005 became Senior Vice President for Human Resources. Prior to BellSouth, Patrick worked at Marathon Oil Company and Proctor & Gamble, both in Ohio. Patrick has gained experience over his career in Internal Audit, Finance, Human Resources, and Operations Support. He has a BBA in Accounting from Howard University, and an MBA from Georgia State University. Patrick, a native of Trinidad & Tobago, is married with two children. He is very involved in his local community and is on the Board of Directors of 21st Century Leaders, a non-profit organization that prepares young people in Georgia for life after high school.
Cathy Woolard - Click for Bio
Executive Vice President, Global Advocacy & External Relations, CARE USA
Cathy Woolard is Executive Vice President for Global Advocacy and External Relations at CARE USA. Ms. Woolard oversees the advocacy, policy, fundraising, partnerships, communications, and marketing functions at CARE, a leading international poverty-fighting organization with operations in nearly 70 countries. CARE places special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty.

In both the personal and profession realm, Ms. Woolard has dedicated herself to advocating on behalf of marginalized people. She made history when she became the first woman to hold the position of Atlanta City Council President in 2002. Prior to that, she owned a public affairs firm whose clients included national nonprofit organizations, and served as lobbyist and national field director for the Human Rights Campaign in Washington, DC. Ms. Woolard was also a Peace Corps volunteer for two years in Moen, Truk, Federated States of Micronesia.
Vickie Barrow-Klein - Click for Bio
Sr. Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Vickie Barrow-Klein joined CARE, Inc. in November 2008 as Sr. Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to CARE, she served as Vice President for Finance and Information Management, Treasurer and CFO for Save the Children Federation, Inc. She led the Human Resources, Information Systems, Internal Audit, Knowledge Management and Finance departments through more than 15% annual Agency growth by focusing on building teams, developing leaders in their respective disciplines, strengthening oversight and internal controls, and challenging staff toward continuous improvement. Prior to Save the Children, Vickie served as the Deputy CFO for the Peace Corps where she oversaw their first financial statement preparation and annual audit in the same year that Oracle Federal Financials was rolled-out to all 82 offices world-wide. Vickie has also worked with the Academy for Educational Development: first, as their Director for Bids and Proposals, then as the Manager for Finance and Administration on the BASICS project, and finally as the VP for Financial Systems and Billing. In total, Vickie has almost 25 years of experience in the administrative and financial management of U.S. Government contracts, cooperative agreements, and grants as well as multi-lateral, UN, foreign government and private foundation agreements. Nearly twenty of those years have been serving in a financial role within the international NGO sector.
Jean-Michel Vigreux - Click for Bio
Senior Vice President Program Quality and Impact
Jean-Michel joined CARE in 1988 as Manager of an agro-forestry project in Northern Togo. Over the last 20 years he took the position of Assistant Country Director for Program in Niger and El Salvador, Country Director in Sierra Leone, Togo-Ghana-Benin and Mali and Regional Director for West and Southern Africa before becoming Vice President for Program Quality and Impact in October 2008. He is a Belgian citizen.

Jean-Michel holds a Master's degree in agronomy and forestry, specialized in tropical areas and a Master's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Gembloux, Belgium.
