Project Description:
Building Income Generation for Vulnerable Women Project: The project aims at developing the capacity 700 of vulnerable women in Afghanistan to become self-sufficient through targeted training activities. Since its inception, widows have been trained in food processing, poultry and livestock development, and cosmotology, among other skills. Beneficiaries also receive literacy and numeracy lessons as part of the project.

Poultry Development for Women Project: This project helps vulnerable widows to earn income by providing them with 30 chicks and start-up materials. Widows also learn how to price and sell eggs, literacy and numeracy skills. To date, over 2,500 women have benefited from poultry raising activities.

Widows' Income Generation through Livestock Development (WIGLD): This project helps widows to supplement their families' diets and earn income through animal husbandry. To date, almost 150 widows have received milking cows on credit and have enrolled in Savings and Credit Groups.
